About Draftbit

We're simplifying the most challenging parts of mobile app development to allow builders everywhere to create rich, complex apps.

No more starting from scratch from a blank screen. No more lock-in with tools with limited self-hosted databases or restricted access to source code.

We empower people to build their app their way. We do that by giving builders visual tools to streamline screen layout, navigation, and workflows alongside direct access to their app code so they can bring in the custom functions and components that make their apps unique. We give you building blocks, not templates.

We have spent the past few years creating a solid product foundation and getting early feedback from our beta users. We have support from investors who have backed companies like Figma, Twitter, and Twitch. While we still have much to prove, we're poised to grow and are looking for teammates to join us in taking that next leap together.

About the Position

Our small product development team has historically shared responsibility for QA - our engineers and product folks test new features before they are deployed and everyone across our team reports issues & bugs that we & our users encounter. We've reached a point where this process is no longer sufficient and are hiring this role to help streamline our QA efforts.

In this role, you will be asked to:

  • Be the first point of contact for bugs/issues reported by our team and our users. These reports will come to you with varying degrees of fidelity and we'll rely on you to investigate them more deeply and determine next steps.
  • Log detailed bug reports and reproduction steps in our issue-tracking tool (Linear) and work with our Head of Product to ensure they are prioritized appropriately
  • Test new features extensively in our staging environment before they are released to production. Report issues to our product team.
  • Partner with our Success Engineers to identify trends where users repeatedly struggle with platform issues (whether bugs or UX issues) and communicate these trends to our product team
  • Proactively audit the Draftbit platform for speed & reliability issues and report findings to the product team
  • Become an expert user of the Draftbit platform and develop a well-rounded understanding of mobile app development

This is a full-time, remote contract position. We anticipate this being a salaried, $45-75k per year position depending on skills and experience.

Most of our team is based in the US, but you need not be. We simply ask that you be available to work at least 4 overlapping hours with a 9am-5pm CT US workday.

About You

  • Experience in a QA role at a software product company where new features are shipped frequently
  • Familiarity with software development & product development lifecycles - you likely have some software engineering experience
  • Ability to clearly explain complex, technical topics in person and in writing (English fluency is key)
  • Some fluency with bug tracking software (Jira, Linear, etc) and software source code management/versioning (Github)
  • Self-reliant, able to set your own goals and operate with limited oversight
  • Bonus points for experience in test automation and developing test coverage plans!

Additional Details

  • Compensation is competitive for companies of our size and stage. As an early team member, we offer aggressive equity compensation.

  • We're headquartered in Chicago but have a distributed team. U.S.-friendly hours are strongly preferred - we limit meetings, but we often work semi-synchronously, so it's essential to have some workday overlap.

  • We pay for 100% of your medical, dental & vision insurance premiums and 50% for partners & dependents.

  • We offer unlimited sick, personal, and vacation days.

  • We provide stipends for remote team members to subsidize co-working desk rental or home office needs.

  • We encourage applicants from all backgrounds to apply - we care about your abilities, not your pedigree.
